Eddie Kingston Claims NJPW Gold

Eddie Kingston

Eddie Kingston has every reason to celebrate following NJPW’s Independence Day event in Tokyo, Japan as he captured the NEVER Openweight Championship.

Eddie Kingston recently returned to AEW to resume hostilities with his long-time nemesis Claudio Castagnoli and has ended up well and truly caught up in The Elite’s feud with the Blackpool Combat Club as a result.

However, Kingston’s attention looks to be elsewhere for the foreseeable future as the star is set to be part of the G1 Climax tournament in NJPW as he battles the best the promotion has to offer for the chance to earn an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship shot at Wrestle Kingdom in early 2024.

Eddie Kingston will now go into that tournament with some momentum behind him after he fought KENTA at Independence Day night 2 in Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall. With the NEVER Openweight Championship on the line, Kingston pulled out the victory to claim the first gold in NJPW of his career.
