Eddie Kingston Explicitly Says Bryan Danielson Is Not The GOAT

Eddie Kingston isn’t shy about sharing his opinions on wrestling, and that’s exactly what he did when he was asked about the legendary status of Bryan Danielson.

Many wrestling fans have called Bryan “GOAT”, and not just because he had that brief storyline whereby people were making fun of him for resembling a farm animal. “GOAT” is an acronym for “greatest of all time”, and a lot of people believe that Bryan fits that bill given his technical acumen and extensive catalogue of top-tier in-ring matches.

But Eddie Kingston isn’t sold on that narrative. During an appearance on Tony Schiavone’s What Happened When show, Kingston and Schiavone recalled an interaction between them that began during a discussion on Bryan’s legacy.

“We were talking about Bryan Danielson one night, it was probably a couple of weeks ago, and I said, ‘Bryan Danielson is probably the best professional wrestler I’ve ever seen.’ My phone lights up. It’s Eddie Kingston. ‘It’s Terry Funk. You f**k.’”

Kingston then chimed in to give more context to that statement.

“I’m sitting there after hernia surgery, watching Dynamite on one of the f**king Turner stations, and I hear the blasphemy coming out of Excalibur and Schiavone’s mouth about Bryan Danielson being the GOAT. I said, ‘Absolutely not, I can’t let this go.’ I got a group chat with the guys, so I got, ‘Hey f**kos, it’s Terry Funk, the greatest of all time.'”

Both Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson will be busy this weekend as they prepare for their respective matches at Forbidden Door in Toronto.
