Ahead of their confrontation on AEW Dynamite, Ricky Starks has had more harsh words for World Champion MJF.

‘Absolute’ Ricky Starks will battle for both the AEW World Championship and Dynamite Diamond ring this coming Wednesday, 14th December on the special Winter Is Coming edition of Dynamite. He will be the first challenger to MJF, who won the title belt at Full Gear from Jon Moxley.

Speaking with The New York Post, Ricky Starks noted that MJF’s heel persona makes it easy for him to be lazy, whereas Starks has to be there for the community.

It’s easier for Max to be lazy. It’s easier for Max in his current position to say, ‘I don’t have to go and visit the kid at the school because he asked me to.’ That’s different from me because I take that responsibility because that person is looking up to me.

On the 7th December 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite, Starks earned the chance to add double jeopardy to his encounter with MJF by winning the Battle Royale and becoming the top contender for the Dynamite Diamond Ring. After that he had a verbal joust with ‘The Salt Of The Earth’, one which he acknowledges was extremely passionate.

Even if this was a star-making performance in other people’s eyes, to me this was another situation – the third time now if you look at my AEW career – where I’ve gone out there and I’ve passionately spoke. In an industry and in a company where there are so many cornballs and disingenuous people who are all about taglines and trying to push merch, I go out there and speak from the heart and I speak what I feel.
