Why Major Star Earned Triple H’s Respect at WWE SummerSlam

Triple H WWE

Triple H has been with WWE for nearly four decades. Throughout his time as both an in-ring competitor and creative head, he has seen and evaluated many wrestlers, and it’s not easy to impress him. However, a major star did just that at SummerSlam: Jelly Roll.

The award-winning singer and rapper teamed up with Randy Orton to face Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. Though Roll and Orton were unable to secure the win, the 40-year-old star’s effort did not go unnoticed.

Jelly Roll Made Triple H Proud at SummerSlam

Speaking at the SummerSlam post-show media conference, Triple H gave Jelly Roll high praise for his impressive performance. Considering the Son of a Sinner has no wrestling background, what he accomplished inside the ring was nothing short of spectacular and magical, and Triple H acknowledged this wholeheartedly.

He said, “I said this to him in the back when he was done, and he walked in the back, and the doc was checking him out, making sure he was okay. And I walked up to him and I said, ‘The one thing you did made everybody here proud. You earned your spot in our business, you earned that.’ And the biggest word I can say to tell him, and I will tell him again right now, and I don’t say it to a lot of people unless it’s really earned, but—my respect.” [51:55–52:24]

During the same press conference, Triple H also revealed that Jelly Roll had broken his finger on the very first day of training, making his resilience and determination even more impressive.

“When did you break your finger? The first day? Broke his finger day one, taped it up, taped it to the other ones and got right back in there and went and did it,” Triple H said.
