Dwayne Johnson Fires Back At Grayson Waller After Wardrobe Insult

When it comes to trash talk, it’s probably a good idea to not trade insults with Dwayne Johnson, who busted out some Rock-isms for Grayson Waller.

During his illustrious career as a WWE superstar, Dwayne Johnson did it all as The Rock. He won the WWE Championship in just his second year, he main evented the third WrestleMania he appeared at and went on to become one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time.

An interesting factoid regarding Dwayne Johnson’s WWE career is that he didn’t just make his debut in any arena. He did it in the “World’s Most Famous Arena” Madison Square Garden in New York City at Survivor Series 1996.

At that time, Dwayne Johnson’s wrestling name was Rocky Maivia (a tribute to grandfather “High Chief” Peter Maivia and father Rocky Johnson) wearing an outfit that featured some tassels and neckgear to try to play off his family heritage. If you forgot what the look was, check it out below.

Grayson Waller is a current WWE superstar from Australia that made his MSG debut this past Friday on Smackdown. Waller hosted Edge on the Grayson Waller Effect talk show. After they exchanged words, it led to a match later in the show.

Edge beat Waller in his match with Waller, but Waller was impressive even in defeat. After losing to Edge, Waller tweeted that he had the biggest debut in MSG “since that bloke who wore the cringe tassels.”

Waller posted a video on Twitter featuring the actual gear that Dwayne Johnson wore as Rocky Maivia at Survivor Series 1996. Waller trashed the look again by calling it “cringe” and laughing at it.

There are times when Dwayne Johnson tweets about wrestling harkening back to his days as The Rock, so he decided to react to Waller’s video. Here’s what Johnson wrote in reply to it.

“Man you’re right! That outfit was so cringe. Here’s what’s more cringe – the fact you look and sound like you dropped out of some jabroni’s balloon knot. Nice haircut, you Outback Jack Off. Ps, my cringe debut outfit was all @TripleH’s idea”

While Waller thinks his debut was better at MSG, at least Johnson can say he won his debut match at MSG, unlike Waller.
