Dutch Mantell On Ric Flair – “I Have No Sympathy”

Ric Flair has been the subject of a lot of criticism of late due to revelations from the “Dark Side of the Ring” documentary about WWE’s “Plane Ride from Hell” in 2002. Legendary wrestling manager Dutch Mantell is saying that Flair deserves no sympathy.

The plane ride took place after WWE’s May 2002 PPV called Insurrextion that was a UK-only PPV in London, England. The fallout from the plane ride led to lawsuits from the airline company, there were WWE superstars that were fined while Scott Hall and Curt Hennig (Mr. Perfect) were fired for their behaviour on that flight.

Dark Side of the Ring also talked to Heidi Doyle, who was a flight attendant that shared details of the poorly behaved wrestlers on that flight. Doyle told a story about Ric Flair getting too close to her while Flair was naked under his robe and it made her very uncomfortable.

In an interview with Sportskeeda, Dutch Mantell admitted he had “no sympathy” for Flair saying he would do things like that repeatedly:

“I have no sympathy toward Ric Flair. I have no sympathy at all. Because this is behavior that he did over and over again to varying degrees. Now I have never really been around him, but I’ve heard the rumors – they’ve been around ever since I’ve known Ric Flair.”

Mantell also chimed in with his thoughts on Tommy Dreamer, who had some very questionable comments about what happened to Flair.

“Talking about Tommy Dreamer, like you said, Tommy Dreamer, I don’t know what he was doing. But he was basically trying to cover for Flair and trying to make his activities seem like it wasn’t a big thing. But if you put your wife, or daughter, or your sister or cousin or anybody or a good friend in place of the flight attendant, if you put it in a personal context, then you really really mad.”

Dreamer has been suspended indefinitely by Impact Wrestling and yesterday he released comments apologizing for what he said.

Ric Flair has also faced punishment for his actions since CarShield announced that they have “paused” the commercials that featured him.

Dutch Mantell has been part of the wrestling business as a wrestler, manager and member of creative teams for nearly 50 years. Mantell worked for WWE as a manager named Uncle Zebekiah and later Zeb Colter.
