Dustin Rhodes Comments On Cody Headlining WrestleMania 39
Dustin Rhodes has commented on his brother Cody getting the incredible opportunity to headline WrestleMania 39.
The main event of WWE’s WrestleMania 39 event on Sunday, April 2nd will see Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes, who earned the title shot after winning the Royal Rumble in January.
During his own legendary WWE career as Goldust, Dustin Rhodes achieved a lot in the company as a three-time Intercontinental Champion, three-time Tag Team Champion (twice with Cody) and he should end up in the WWE Hall of Fame someday down the road.
Dustin and Cody have done very well for themselves in pro wrestling as they build on their father Dusty Rhodes’ incredible legacy as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.
Since Cody returned to WWE in 2022 after helping launch AEW in 2019 (which is where Dustin Rhodes works), he has talked about wanting to “finish the story” of winning the WWE Championship. It’s a title his father Dusty, a former NWA World Champion, never won and Dustin never won it either despite being a big name in WWE history.
In an interview with the Sports Guys Talking Wrestling podcast, Dustin Rhodes talked about his younger brother Cody’s return to WWE.
“I am super proud of him. I’m so proud of the man he’s become. He’s become very wise for his age. And he’s just –- since AEW and since he went out on his own and you know making a name for himself – he’s flourished [in WWE].”
As he continued, Dustin Rhodes expressed confidence in his brother Cody becoming the WWE Champion.
“That’s a lot of pressure to have the weight of the WWE Universe on your shoulders. But he will become — hopefully if he wins this match — he will become the first Rhodes to win the big one in WWE and that’s impressive. I’m super proud and I’m here for it. I can’t wait to watch it.”
