Drew McIntyre’s Potential SummerSlam Absence Forces WWE To Prepare Plan B
WWE is considering a major pivot at SummerSlam, and plans are being put in place if Drew McIntyre can’t make the show.
Drew McIntyre is set to team up with Logan Paul at SummerSlam as part of a match that has received a lot of attention, as they will face Randy Orton and Jelly Roll. However, after returning to the UK to attend a friend’s wedding, Drew McIntyre was not allowed to board his flight back to the United States.
An irate Drew McIntyre explained the situation in a social media post, noting that because he didn’t have his US passport, he couldn’t board, and as a result, his match at SummerSlam is now in serious doubt.
WWE Making Plans To Replace Drew McIntyre
TC of WrestleVotes has now reported that WWE have set the “wheels in motion” for a replacement to be named for McIntyre if he can’t make it back into the US in time for the last SmackDown before SummerSlam:
I spoke with a source who tells me “wheels are in motion” for alternative plans in the event Drew McIntyre is unable to get to SmackDown this Friday in New Jersey. What that means for his Tag Team match against Jelly Roll & Randy Orton at #SummerSlam, is yet to be determined.
One surprising WWE star has already touted themselves as McIntyre’s replacement, but this could have been part of a bigger plan in the company to set up a substitute to team with Logan Paul.
