Drew McIntyre Reveals Unique Move Name Mocking CM Punk

drew mcintyre go to mania

Drew McIntyre has a funny name for the move he teased doing as a way to mock his injured rival CM Punk.

At the WWE Elimination Chamber match in Perth, Australia, Drew McIntyre was among the six men in the match where the winner gets to challenge for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 40.

The others in the match were Logan Paul, Kevin Owens, LA Knight, and Bobby Lashley. The match came down to two competitors: Orton and McIntyre. After Orton hit McIntyre with an RKO, it appeared that Orton would get the win, but instead, Logan Paul nailed Orton with a cheap shot brass knuckles punch to the jaw. McIntyre capitalized on the situation by covering Orton to get the win.

That victory means that Drew McIntyre will challenge Seth “Freakin” Rollins at WrestleMania 40 for the World Heavyweight Title. It will be McIntyre’s third televised title shot against Rollins since he lost at Crown Jewel last November and the Day 1 Raw in January.

What’s interesting about the Chamber match also is that CM Punk was originally slated to win it. However, CM Punk suffered a torn triceps in the Royal Rumble match when taking a Future Shock DDT by McIntyre and that led to Punk posting an emotional message when talking about the Chamber match.

After Punk’s injury, McIntyre has mocked Punk constantly by saying he prayed for Punk to get hurt while also wearing a shirt that is a gravestone mocking the idea that Punk won’t be able to compete at WrestleMania this year because he’s out for six to eight months. It’s certainly possible that there could be a McIntyre-Punk feud later in the year, but there are questions about McIntyre’s contract status with WWE as well.

What Move Name Does Drew McIntyre Have For CM Punk’s GTS?

During the Men’s Elimination Chamber match, Drew McIntyre teased doing the Go To Sleep (GTS) to Knight. McIntyre didn’t hit the move because Knight slipped out of it, but it drew a reaction. The move was created by KENTA and popularized in North America by CM Punk.

On Twitter/X, McIntyre shared a photo of the move while coming up with a funny name for it: Go To Mania.

WrestleMania 40 takes place on April 6th and April 7th at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia with Drew McIntyre set to challenge Seth “Freakin” Rollins for the World Heavyweight Title in one of the big matches at the show.
