Drew McIntyre & Sheamus Given Unusual New Name On SmackDown

Drew McIntyre and Sheamus have been christened with an eyebrow-raising new team name on SmackDown befitting two men who bring banger after banger in the ring.

On the first SmackDown of 2023, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre continued their rivalry with The Bloodline as they challenged The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. Ultimately – with more than a little help from their younger brother Solo Sikoa – The Usos continued their record-breaking reign leaving McIntyre and Sheamus empty-handed.

Many fans watching noted on commentary that Michael Cole has seemingly christened Drew McIntyre and Sheamus as The Banger Bros, a sign perhaps that their time as a duo is far from over on SmackDown.

Although fairly recent rivals on WWE television, McIntyre and Sheamus are close friends in real life with the Scottish star acting as The Celtic Warrior’s best man at his wedding in October 2022.

Many online have pointed out the possible connotations of such a name, with fans remembering in 2015 when the trio of Paige, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair had to change the name of their group from Submission Sorority to Team PCB after the former name’s association with an adult website.

SmackDown in Memphis, TN also saw a fan favourite faction turn heel after one of the members lost to Ricochet in a Royal Rumble qualifying match.
