Drew McIntyre Blasts Rival For Career Failure Outside Of WWE
Drew McIntyre can’t help himself when it comes to mocking CM Punk.
The 2024 rivalry between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk was highly regarded by wrestling fans as not just the best rivalry of that year, but one of the best rivalries in several years.
Throughout the rivalry with Punk, Drew McIntyre claimed he was speaking the truth about Punk, just like he does about anybody he steps into the ring with in WWE.
There was some more truth-telling by the former WWE Champion McIntyre. In a video on WWE’s YouTube channel, McIntyre was shown attending a UFC event in London, England, and of course, he had to mention Punk in that setting.
“I can confidently say, if I got in the Octagon right now with zero training whatsoever, I would do 1,000 times better than CM Punk. I mean that. 1,000 times better.”
CM Punk fought twice in the UFC. Punk lost his first fight against Mickey Gall in about two minutes in 2016. In 2018, Punk lost via unanimous decision to Mike Jackson, but that result was overturned since Jackson tested positive for marijuana. Punk never fought in the UFC again.
How Does Drew McIntyre Feel About His WrestleMania 41 Spot?
At WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia. McIntyre beat Seth Rollins to become the World Heavyweight Champion in one of the biggest matches of the weekend. Unfortunately for McIntyre, his title reign only lasted about five minutes due to a physical altercation with CM Punk that led to Damian Priest cashing in Money in the Bank on Drew McIntyre and Priest left with the gold.
Going into WrestleMania 41, McIntyre has had issues with Priest at events like the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and recent SmackDown episodes, so it appears likely that McIntyre will face Priest at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.
While speaking with the Daily Star recently, McIntyre made it clear that he didn’t love being in a match without a championship up for grabs.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t p****d off at not being in one of the title matches after the 2024 I had, but it’s just because I’m so highly competitive and sometimes, you know, there’s only a few spots.
I appreciated when the fans’ reaction was, oh my goodness, it’s Priest and Drew, there’s nothing there. I’m like bloody hell, give us a chance to tell the story. The thing with Priest has been going on since last year’s WrestleMania when he cashed in on me after I was assaulted by Punk.
He doesn’t know how to succeed unless it is at my expense. Elimination Chamber, I Claymore Cena. Instead of going ‘I’ll let Drew pin Cena first’, he eliminates me. It’s the only way he knows how to succeed because he is a vulture. A parasite. A big emo vulture. Finally, he’s got my attention because they’ve got nothing else. I stomped him in his big stupid head last week and if he wants to keep coming back for more, if it goes all the way to Mania, it’s a year in the making story and he deserves the biggest stage of all to get his stupid-looking arse kicked.
In the same interview, Drew McIntyre has teased some future plans with “The Final Boss” The Rock, so WWE fans will have to keep watching to find out what the Scottish Warrior means by that.
