Drew McIntyre Reacts To CM Punk Being Called A Hypocrite By WWE Star

Drew McIntyre WWE Raw

The rivalry between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk shows no signs of slowing down as another WWE superstar joined McIntyre by criticizing Punk.

At the WWE NXT Battleground PLE from Las Vegas, there were several big names in attendance behind the scenes. One of them was the injured former WWE Champion CM Punk, who has been present backstage at some NXT shows in recent months to help the talent.

One of the biggest matches at NXT Battleground saw Roxanne Perez retain the NXT Women’s Title over TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace. The finish was controversial a bit because Grace had to leave the ring to stop Tatum Paxley & Ash By Elegance (former Dana Brooke in WWE) from taking the Knockouts Title.

When Grace re-entered the ring, Perez had recovered, was able to counter a big move from Grace and Perez hit her Pop Rox finishing move for the win.

Roxanne Perez was interviewed in a WWE digital exclusive where she bragged about winning the match.

Are you surprised? Tell me right now, are you surprised? Of course you are, aren’t you? Because everybody was surprised. But why? Why? I’m The Prodigy. There’s no one like me.

That’s when CM Punk interrupted with some advice for the younger champion.

Hold up, just calm down one second. I’m sorry to bust in here. Listen, you’re the champion for a reason. You’re head and shoulders above all these women here. You’re head and shoulders above all the TNA Knockouts. But tonight, you got lucky. I need you to focus on this. I need you to be who you are, I need you to be The Prodigy. You don’t need anything else.

The heel champion Perez responded to that with this:

Thanks for the advice. What a hypocrite, huh?

As you might expect, CM Punk’s biggest rival on the Raw brand, Drew McIntyre, saw this exchange on social media and felt the need to add his own comment.

It’s important to know the context that CM Punk is a 45-year-old wrestler while Perez is 22 years old, so she literally grew up as a fan of CM Punk, his wife AJ Lee and others. That led to Drew McIntyre chiming in with this interesting remark.

“Even people who grew up idolizing CM Punk are already sick of him.”

Drew McIntyre Heading Home For WWE World Title Opportunity

It’s a big week for Drew McIntyre because the former three-time WWE World Champion is heading back to his home country of Scotland to challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Title at the Clash at the Castle PLE on June 15th.

While McIntyre will have the home country advantage going into the match with Priest, he also has CM Punk on his mind since McIntyre warned Punk that he might get attacked by the fans if Punk gets involved in the match.
