Drew McIntyre Shares Photo With Controversial AEW Star Ahead Of CM Punk Clash

Drew McIntyre is not letting CM Punk rest.

At SummerSlam, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will meet in a match powered by good old-fashioned hatred. To add to the chaos, Seth Rollins will be the special guest referee.

The animosity between the two men began in earnest at the Royal Rumble where Punk suffered a torn triceps during an in-ring altercation with McIntyre. This sparked a war of words between the pair that’s continued to this day, with some physicality thrown in for good measure. As McIntyre repeatedly jabs Punk, the former AEW star has cost his rival the World Heavyweight Title, not once, but twice.

Punk most recently got involved in McIntyre’s business at Money In The Bank where he prevented him from successfully cashing in his Money In The Bank contract. In the process, he also stopped Rollins from walking out with the gold.

Drew McIntyre Takes Fresh Shot At CM Punk

With tension between Punk and McIntyre at an all-time high, the Scottish star has decided to try and tip his rival over the edge. McIntyre has shared a photo on social media with himself and Jack Perry with a huge grin.

The caption simply reads, “It’s a real photo, cry us a river.”

The comments are of course a reference to Perry telling Punk to “cry him a river” into a TV camera on the AEW All In 2023 pre-show after using real glass in his match with Hook. There had been tension between the pair for months after Punk tried to prevent Perry from using real glass in a segment on Collision, although it had already been cleared by management.

Once Perry was backstage at All In, he ended up in a physical confrontation with Punk, while the now-WWE star had Tony Khan fearing for his life.

Punk was later fired for his role in the incident while Perry was suspended. Once the young star returned to AEW television, the CCTV footage of his scuffle with Punk was shown on Dynamite.
