Drew McIntyre Miscast Claims WWE Hall Of Famer

Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre has found his way to being a villain once again in WWE and Eric Bischoff thinks it will be the best thing that could happen to the former WWE Champion.

Drew McIntyre has been a bad guy for most of his time in WWE with one very notable exception. The crowd got behind McIntyre on his way to winning the Royal Rumble in 2020 but rather than explode with noise when McIntyre won the WWE Title at WrestleMania 36, the win was met with stony silence as the pandemic locked fans out of arenas.

By the time fans returned to WWE shows, Drew McIntyre’s time at the top was over and he’s not made it back to the top of the mountain since. That has been what has driven him to join with The Judgment Day in WarGames as he seeks revenge on Jey Uso for his part in The Bloodline that kept McIntyre from winning the WWE Universal Title at Clash at the Castle in 2022.

Eric Bischoff Questions Drew McIntyre’s WWE Role

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff thinks this new twist in McIntyre’s story is just what he needed and questions if McIntyre was suited for the role of beloved hero in the company:

I’ve always been a fan of Drew’s. His initial run with WWE, and then he was let go. I was on a couple of independent shows with him in the UK. Just a classy guy, and a great performer, but perhaps like Ronda Rousey previously in WWE, he may not have been cast in the best role as a babyface. I’m anxious to see what he’s capable of as a heel.

Let’s be honest, as much as I respect him and like him, he never really connected as that babyface champion. He had some things against him. I know it was [during the] COVID era, [didn’t have] the crowd reaction to kind of help put you up over the top, and give you the credibility that a champion should have. That’s just bad timing.

But I’m looking forward to seeing him in that heel role because he’s a phenomenal performer, he’s got the right look, he’s got the voice, he’s physical. He can perform in the ring. So maybe a fresh paint of coat will do him justice.

Drew McIntyre’s long-term WWE future remains in serious doubt as it remains unknown if he has signed a new deal with the company. There has been a major hint that Drew McIntyre is staying with WWE, however, if new marketing material produced by the company is to be believed.
