Drew McIntyre Makes Huge WrestleMania Pitch
Drew McIntyre has a dream.
Across his two spells with WWE, Drew McIntyre has done it all.
The Scottish star has won multiple World Championships, headlined WrestleMania, won the Royal Rumble, the Money In The Bank briefcase, and four other championships. But he still feels like he has more to achieve.
During an interview with SportBible conducted ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event, McIntyre said he’d love to return to the UK as World Champion to headline a major event.
“It’s something I’ve been wanting to do [return home with the title], I think I started talking about it in 2019, going into the Royal Rumble in 2020 when I won, that I’m going to win the Rumble, win the title, get an open top bus, parade it around the UK as the only ever British champion.”
Dreaming even bigger, McIntyre said he’d love to compete at a WrestleMania in Scotland.
“I have the chance to get this title, pull off the big one on Saturday. I’ve got to overcome Cody’s politics and influence to make sure I win the big one. Then I’ll bring the title home, then we have ourselves a parade and take it to WrestleMania. We’ve got places we can have WrestleMania. We can have it at Murrayfield, and everyone would travel, not just from in the UK.
Then we get to check out the lovely scenery. I’d love to actually see some of the scenery. I cannot wait to do media on top of Edinburgh Castle or something. Head to some of the football games, a few Rangers games, we’ll finally be back on form after a disastrous start to the season. I’ll be right there, for one WrestleMania.”
Drew McIntyre Fell Short
Despite his best efforts, Drew McIntyre once again fell short at Saturday Night’s Main Event as he was defeated by Cody Rhodes. However, the end of the match wasn’t without its fair share of controversy.
In the closing stages, McIntyre looked to hit Rhodes with the title belt after the referee had been knocked down. But after the champion escaped, he hit McIntyre with a DDT on the belt to score the win.
The match capped off a rough ten months for McIntyre, who has tasted defeat in several high-profile matches throughout the year.
