Drew McIntyre Knows Major Change Is Needed In WWE

Drew McIntyre is ready to be WWE Champion again.

The Undisputed WWE Championship will be on the line on the January 9th edition of WWE SmackDown in Berlin, Germany, as Cody Rhodes defends the gold against his arch nemesis, Drew McIntyre.

Rhodes and McIntyre have had multiple title matches over the last four months, but each ended in controversy. After many twists and turns, including a suspension for McIntyre, the Scottish Warrior has got one more shot at the title on his terms.

Drew McIntyre will not only get a WWE Title match, but he was also allowed to pick the stipulation. It’s a 3 Stages of Hell Match, where the winner must win at least 2 falls. McIntyre’s chosen stipulations are:

  • Stage 1: Regular match. Some might say that is not much of a “stage of hell,” but it’s what McIntyre wants.
  • Stage 2: Falls Count Anywhere
  • Stage 3: Steel Cage Match

After revealing the stipulations, McIntyre also stole a photo of Cody Rhodes with his late father, Dusty Rhodes, who is in hell according to McIntyre. In addition, McItnyre also posted social media photos that looked like he was peeing on Cody’s bus.

Drew McIntyre Says It’s Now Or Never

As a former 3-time WWE World Champion, McIntyre has waited 5 years for a lengthy reign with the WWE Championship. When McIntyre won the World Title at WrestleMania 40 in 2024, he lost it within five minutes due to Damian Priest cashing in Money in the Bank because of McIntyre getting attacked by CM Punk.

In a social media promo recorded before a live event match, Drew McIntyre talked about how big his WWE Title match is and how change is needed in WWE.

“It’s now or never. You can’t have a new era unless there is change at the top or it’s just really the same thing. Everyone seems fine with that, Cody at the top, protect him all the time, protect their golden boy because he’s safe. I’m not safe, I’m dangerous. That’s the kind of era I want to bring. Unpredictably.

Cody did a hell of a job as champ, especially to finish this story, but it’s the same. We need change. Not just for the company but for the fans. We need change for you Cody. I’ve broken you mentally. I’ve broken you physically. I’m sending you to the dark whether you realize it or not.

You are the Batman, but I’m Bane. If you can climb out of that dark hole when I beat you, and take everything from you, you’re gonna return a better Cody Rhodes than ever before. It will enable someone like me, someone in the position I’m in right now. I feel unbeatable. If I am defeated Friday, then I don’t know who the hell I am.”

It has been reported that there are people within WWE who want McIntyre to take the WWE Title from Rhodes on SmackDown, but it’s not known if that’s what will happen during their match.
