Drew McIntyre Had Hilarious Shirt Idea Rejected By WWE

Drew McIntyre had a great idea for a shirt, but WWE management didn’t feel the same way.

When it comes to using social media to promote the WWE product and further storylines, many fans would consider former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre among the best.

To his credit, McIntyre uses social media very well, and despite being a heel on television, he’s popular with fans online because of how clever he can be.

At WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, Drew McIntyre opened night two as the challenger for the World Heavyweight Title held by Seth Rollins. During the match, he went over to his wife at ringside and it looked like he was taking a photo, but he was actually sending out a tweet on X:

Since it was the one-year anniversary of that “Bored at work” tweet, McIntyre revealed on X that he tried to get WWE to turn it into a shirt, but the company didn’t do it.

Fact: I asked @WWEShop if they could make this into a shirt. But I guess 39m views and 34,000 retweets wasn’t enough for them to take notice…

Either way, happy anniversary

McIntyre would go on to beat Seth Rollins to become the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 40. However, the title reign didn’t last long because McIntyre taunted his rival CM Punk at ringside. That led to Punk attacking him with his arm brace (Punk had arm surgery a few months earlier), and Damian Priest cashed in Money in the Bank on McIntyre to leave with the World Heavyweight Title. McIntyre’s title reign lasted only about five minutes.

Drew McIntyre Looking For Payback Against Damian Priest One Year Later

During a promo segment on WWE SmackDown in Chicago, Damian Priest said he wanted Drew McIntyre to stop playing a victim and to be Priest’s victim at WrestleMania 41. The match isn’t official for WrestleMania 41 as of this writing, but it is expected to happen at the event.

In a recent interview, Drew McIntyre talked about his issues with the former World Heavyweight Champion, Damian Priest.

“He doesn’t know how to succeed unless it is at my expense. Elimination Chamber, I Claymore Cena. Instead of going ‘I’ll let Drew pin Cena first’, he eliminates me. It’s the only way he knows how to succeed because he is a vulture. A parasite. A big emo vulture.

Finally, he’s got my attention because they’ve got nothing else. I stomped him in his big stupid head last week and if he wants to keep coming back for more, if it goes all the way to Mania, it’s a year in the making story and he deserves the biggest stage of all to get his stupid-looking arse kicked.”

Those comments from McIntyre were made after he had the upper hand during an attack. During their last interaction, Priest overwhelmed McIntyre on the March 28th SmackDown and Priest slammed him on a car windshield, which led to glass getting in McIntyre’s eye, and McIntyre has had to wear an eye patch because of it.
