Drew McIntyre Explains How To Achieve Freedom In WWE

Drew McIntyre in WWE

Drew McIntyre has given his thoughts on how stars can get more freedom in WWE.

In recent months, Drew McIntyre has used his losses to Seth Rollins to take his character in a new direction. The star has turned heel, targeting the likes of Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, all while keeping his eye on his goal of finally defeating Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship.

During an appearance on Gorilla Position, McIntyre admitted that while he’s enjoyed everything he’s done in WWE, he knew it was time to “evolve” so that he could get back to the top of the card.

“Obviously I’ve loved what I’ve done since I returned to WWE, (but) it got to a point where I knew we have to evolve. It doesn’t feel like the right fit anymore.”

“I didn’t come here to make up the numbers, I came here to be top of the card and make a true difference to the show.”

With Triple H now firmly in charge of the creative direction of WWE, things have changed to allow stars to have more input into their characters and matches. According to McIntyre, this has led to more ways of reaching the top, and the more that wrestlers show they can use that freedom well, the more they’ll be given.

“There’s more than one way to do it and now it’s very much ‘Let’s throw things against the wall.”

“The more you kill it, the more freedom you’re gonna get. That’s the way it should be and that’s the way it used to be.”

Will Drew McIntyre Re-Sign With WWE?

While it is believed that Drew McIntyre will stay in WWE after his contract expires in April, the man himself recently teased that it’s not a certainty. Drew McIntyre says he still has years left in his career, but it’s entirely possible that he will go back to being Drew Galloway – the name he used on the independent scene – before he hangs up his boots.
