Drew McIntyre Dealing With Another Injury

Drew McIntyre WWE side-eye

Drew McIntyre is feeling the effects of his recent battles with Damian Priest.

At Backlash, Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre continued their heated rivalry that began in earnest back at the Royal Rumble.

After Priest eliminated McIntyre from the Rumble match, the pair continued to fight on SmackDown, setting up a Sin City Street Fight at WrestleMania. When all was said and done, McIntyre walked away with the win, but Priest wasn’t ready to leave things there.

The former World Champions continued to attack each other physically and verbally at every opportunity, and found themselves in a Fatal-Four-Way Match at Backlash for the United States Championship.

In the midst of the chaos, Priest hit McIntyre with his South of Heaven Chokeslam from a raised platform through several tables. But while his body crashed through the furniture, McIntyre’s head bounced off the floor.

Following the match, Triple H claimed Drew McIntyre was “fine,” if a little banged up.

Drew McIntyre Sets The Record Straight On Injury Status

In a new interview with Jay Reddick of the Orlando Sentinel, McIntyre confirmed that while he’s largely fine, he can’t fully turn his head to the left after the nasty landing. He added that working while hurt is just part of the game.

“I can’t turn my head all the way left yet… Working hurt is just what happens if you’re an athlete, especially as the years go by. If you’re injured, it is something to take care of. Maybe back in the day, we would have taped it up and gone with it. In the past, I have worked with muscle tears and breaks, which isn’t the most sensible thing, but the way we operate now, you want to last for the long run.”

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Damian Priest is also “banged up” as a result of the incredibly physical feud. The report stated that the former Judgment Day star had been earning a great deal of praise backstage for continuing to perform at a high level despite his physical condition.

Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre are set to do battle one more time inside a Steel Cage Match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24.
