Worrying Doubt Cast On Will Ospreay’s Injury Return Timetable
Will Ospreay is suffering from a serious neck injury, but will he really be back in action as quickly as he noted on AEW Dynamite?
On the July 23rd edition of Dynamite, Will Ospreay revealed he was suffering from a serious neck injury. Ospreay noted that two herniated discs were pressing on his spinal cord, and he noted the condition was exacerbated by the assault perpetrated on him by the Death Riders at All In Texas.
Given the severity of the injury, fans were then surprised when Ospreay noted that doctors think the injury is treatable and that he should be back by Forbidden Door, which takes place in a few short weeks on August 24th.
Will Ospreay Could Face Even Longer Out
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted his surprise that Ospreay thinks he’ll be back in the ring so quickly and suggested he needs a lot longer to recover:
The injury’s real, he has that. It’s shocking that he said he’d be back in a month with two herniated discs.
[…] I know that he got bad news when he finally got checked, and it sure didn’t sound like something that should be a month off. It sounded like something that should be a year off. When you have guys like this, it’s very worrisome because it just gets worse and worse. We’ve seen some guys get real damage.
[…] I know he doesn’t want surgery. It’s a 14 month surgery which is probably what Kevin Owens is gonna go through.
