Double Champions Crowned As WWE History Made
WWE history has been made as double champions have been crowned at NXT & TNA’s Showdown.
After several TNA stars went public with their unhappiness with WWE and the current partnership between the two companies, a collision between the two sides was inevitable.
TNA ended up invading NXT and standing tall in their ring following the winner-take-all double title match between Trick Williams and Oba Femi being called off. Initially called an Invasion, WWE pivoted to calling TNA and NXT’s meeting a Showdown with several huge matches made.
Chief among them were two Survivor Series-style tag team bouts pitting Team TNA against Team NXT. Eyebrows were raised, however, when TNA Knockouts Champion Kelani Jordan was named captain of the women’s TNA team despite being a WWE-contracted talent. There was more confusion when TNA World Champion Trick Williams joined NXT’s men’s team.
The Hardys Win Gold In WWE Again
NXT Showdown also saw a major double title match made as NXT Tag Team Champions DarkState clashed with TNA Tag Team Champions, The Hardys. And when all was said and done, Matt and Jeff Hardy made history.
Matt Hardy pulled off a Twist of Fate on both Osiris Griffin and Dion Lennox before Jeff hit a huge Swanton Bomb and pinned Lennox to claim the gold.
HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE. 🤯

This is the first time that the legendary tag team have held NXT gold, adding it to their run as champions on the WWE main roster, TNA, and Ring of Honor. This also now means that the 2020s are the fourth decade that The Hardys have won WWE gold together as a tag team.
After the bout, Matt and Jeff Hardy had a staredown with Team 3D, who were watching on at ringside. The Hardys and Team 3D are set to face off in a Tables match at Bound For Glory for the TNA Tag Team Title. It remains to be seen if the NXT gold will also be up for grabs in that bout.
