Door Open For WWE Hall Of Famer To Make In-Ring Return
WWE Bad Blood was a night of surprises.
After Triple H announced the creation of the Crown Jewel Championship, Gunther headed to the ring seemingly on a mission to enjoy himself.
The World Heavyweight Champion took the chance to throw some jabs at Goldberg who was sitting ringside with his family. Gunther called the veteran a “one trick pony” and then addressed Goldberg’s son Gage, saying he hoped he was a better father than he was a wrestler.
At this, Goldberg jumped the barrier and tried to get at Gunther only to be thwarted by security. Sensing an opportunity, Sami Zayn launched his own assault on the World Champion before the pair were pulled apart.
Gunther will defend the World Heavyweight Title against Zayn on Raw.
Goldberg Could End “Forced Retirement” In WWE
During an interview back in July, Goldberg claimed he’d been “forced into retirement” although he refused to admit his career was over.
In response to a question from Raj Prashad of Uproxx Sports at the WWE Bad Blood Press Conference after Goldberg’s appearance at the event, Triple H left the door open for the star to compete once again.
“Atlanta loves Bill Goldberg and that’s why he was here tonight with his wife and his son. Always going to get a huge reaction enjoying the show. Things get said. I can tell you when Bill came back, he was not too happy with Gunther.
We’ll see. The further you go, time catches up with all of us, right? The further you go, those talks get further and further away from reality. I saw Bill earlier in the day and it was great. I saw Bill later in the day and there was a different look on his face with a spark in his eye. I would say never say never,”
Goldberg hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in February 2022. Although he initially remained with WWE, by the end of the year he was a free agent after his contract expired.
The star later claimed he’d been denied a retirement match by Vince McMahon.
