Bobby Lashley has lifted the lid on how Donald Trump and Vince McMahon’s fight at WrestleMania 23 really came about.

In 2007, Donald Trump became embroiled in the world of WWE as he and Vince McMahon engaged in a Battle of the Billionaires in WWE. Rather than take on each other in the ring, however, they each cornered a WWE Superstar with the losing billionaire suffering the humiliation of having their head shaved.

Umaga was McMahon’s pick while Trump threw his weight behind Bobby Lashley. During the match as Lashley and Umaga did battle, there was physicality on the floor as Donald Trump dropped McMahon with a clothesline before mounting the WWE Chairman and showering him with punches.

Donald Trump Wanted WWE Fight

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Bobby Lashley gave his side of the story as far as the battling billionaires went and revealed that it was Trump who pushed to get physical:

[Laughs] No [I didn’t teach him how to do the clothesline]. But I can tell you. I remember the backstage, I think Vince was saying it. Because Trump wanted to be a part of it, he wanted to do something. [Trump] was like, I want to beat somebody up or something like that. I think Vince’s whole thing was like, ‘Haha, when he starts punching me, I’m gonna put my head down so he could punch my head. That’s the hardest part of my head.’ So it’s gonna hurt his hand.

I think there was something in there. But those guys, I think everybody wanted to do something in that match and be a part of that match. So I don’t know who told him to do it. I don’t know when they told him to do it, but leading into that match, there wasn’t supposed to be any altercation.

But I guess they may have talked, or somebody talked, and they figured out, okay, we’ll do a little clothesline, because that could be easy, and then jump on top of him and do the punching. I don’t know where it came from, but that’s what they decided to do.

Bobby Lashley won the bout which led to McMahon having his head shaved in the ring. However, according to one ex-WWE Superstar, there was another time that Donald Trump left Vince McMahon humiliated in front of several WWE stars.
