Dominik Mysterio Reflects On “Surreal” WrestleMania Match Against His Dad
It didn’t dawn on Dominik Mysterio just how big his moment with his dad at WrestleMania really was until long after the show had ended.
Dominik spent months building up his eventual singles match with his father Rey which took place on Night One of WrestleMania 39.
Both father and son had impressive and bedazzling entrances and when the time came to throw down they fought each other for just under fifteen minutes before Rey put Dominik down for the three-count.
Although Dominik lost, he didn’t realize just how spectacular and enormous the whole thing was until much later when he finally had time to sit back and think about it.
In an interview with Metro, Dominik Mysterio revealed that when he was finally far away from the stadium and the atmosphere, he was finally able to soak in what happened to him.
“After the match, I got back to my hotel room – we were in LA so there were food vendors outside our hotel. I think it was like 2 in the morning, and it was just me and my best friend, my buddy Daniel.
I texted him, I was like, ‘Hey I’m gonna go get some food, I’m not too tired’, because my adrenaline I think was still going. It was me and him, we walked out there, we got some hot dogs.
I was like, “Dude… I just wrestled my dad at Wrestlemania. This is pretty surreal”! I was like, “Damn, and I beat his ass!’”
Dominik Mysterio has achieved incredible success in WWE
Dominik Mysterio has been in WWE for just over three years and has already accomplished quite a lot. He and Rey became the first father-and-son tag team in WWE history in 2021 and he is currently the NXT North American Champion, having won that title on July 18th.
