Dominik Mysterio Tag Team Gets Creative Name Honoring The Past

Dominik Mysterio WWE

Dominik Mysterio is looking to the past when it comes to naming his WWE tag team.

As a member of The Judgment Day for over three years, Dominik Mysterio has allies such as Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Roxanne Perez, and Raquel Rodriguez.

In addition to them, he also has a friend in El Grande Americano, who is currently portrayed by Ludwig Kaiser.

At the recent AAA Alianzas event, Dominik/Grande defeated the tag team of El Hijo del Vikingo and Dragon Lee. It was also announced that Dom & Grande will be facing the Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix and Penta) next at Guerra de Titanes on December 20th.

In a behind-the-scenes video posted by Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, Dominik was seen talking about the December 20th match.

What’s interesting about the post by AAA is that they referred to Dominik Mysterio & El Grande Americano as Los Gringos Locos 2.0, a reference to the Los Gringos Locos name Eddie Guerrero & Art Barr used in AAA. Of course, Eddie is Dom’s “father” in WWE storylines to some people, so that’s where the name comes from.

It’s also possible that the Dominik & Grande match against the Lucha Brothers may not happen since Penta suffered a left shoulder injury on WWE Monday Night Raw, so it’s not known if Penta will be cleared to wrestle on December 20th when the match is supposed to happen.

Dominik Mysterio Doesn’t Feel Pressure In WWE

As a 28-year-old current AAA Mega Champion and a former Intercontinental Champion, Dominik Mysterio recently stated that he didn’t feel pressure as the son of a WWE Hall of Famer like Rey Mysterio.

“I don’t really feel the pressure, when it comes to being a multi-generation family in the industry and having the Mysterio name and everything he’s done, I never really took the pressure in a bad way. It almost motivated me and made me want to go out there and have fun. Now when people talk about the Mysterios, they talk about me as well which is really cool to see.

It’s also very hard to be able to sit down and smell the roses while you’re constantly on the go – it’s non-stop what we do, it’s 365 days a year.

So whenever I can, I try to enjoy those special moments – for example at SummerSlam, beating AJ Styles or winning the title at WrestleMania. We don’t get many of those moments, but we live for these types of moments. It’s cool to be five years into my career and already have so many moments.”

At WWE Survivor Series on November 29th, Dominik Mysterio will try to win the Intercontinental Title back from John Cena in Dom’s hometown of San Diego. Here’s the lineup.

  • Men’s WarGames Match: CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso & Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre & Brock Lesnar
  • Women’s WarGames Match: Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair & AJ Lee vs. Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Asuka, Karii Sane & Becky Lynch
  • Intercontinental Championship: John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio
