Dominik Mysterio Mocks His Dad After Huge AAA Win

Dominik Mysterio AAA Grand Champion

Dominik Mysterio captured the AAA Mega Championship on September 12, 2025, during the Worlds Collide in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main event of the crossover show pitted Dominik against El Hijo del Vikingo. The bout featured high-impact lucha libre moves and wild ringside brawls. Judgment Day, who promised not to interfere in the match, did anyway, but Dragon Lee and Dominik’s father, Rey Mysterio, chased them away.

The final segment of the match saw El Grande Americano hand Dirty Dom a metal plate to insert into his mask. Dom then hit Vikingo with a loaded headbutt and followed with a frog splash for the pin, securing the title.

Earlier in the night, Dominik Mysterio had asked his father to put the AAA Mega Championship around his waist if he won. Therefore, the Master of 619 had to crown his son as champion after the match.

Ever since his win, Dominik Mysterio has been over the moon, boasting about being a double champion. Rey Mysterio posted a picture of himself holding two titles, reminding his son that he’s not the first to achieve the feat. Dominik Mysterio chose to reply to his Deadbeat Dad’s message with an insult.

“Good job son. Maybe one day you’ll be as great as me. Now post a pic of you holding the AAA Mega Championship,” Dom wrote.

Rey Mysterio Speaks Highly of Dominik Mysterio

Speaking on the Club 520 podcast, Rey Mysterio spoke about his son’s success in WWE and now in AAA. He confessed that he always knew his son would be more successful than him in wrestling.

Deep down in my thoughts, I’ve always said or knew that he was going to be something bigger than what I did. I didn’t know how.

My wife was the first one to spot and point out that she never saw him as the good guy. She always saw him as a bad guy in the ring, which now makes complete sense. She spent more time with him than I did because I was traveling so much. She was mom and dad.

But to see his growth over the past four years and how he just evolved into this character and embraced it and just now completely owns it is awesome, man. His confidence is… I wish I had some of that when I was his age, and I wish I knew what he knows now when I was his age. I had no clue. I was learning as I was going.

But I think the huge factor in this is he was… he was thrown in right away to swim with sharks, and he figured that out. He learned how to swim with sharks. So, you know, I think personally that’s why he’s in the spot that he’s in now.
