Dominik Mysterio Likens His Gimmick To Late WWE Legend
“Dirty” Dominik Mysterio is one of the most popular gimmicks in WWE today.
Despite being a heel, Mysterio has amassed a legion of supporters who cheer for him during his appearances on RAW and even AAA Lucha Libre.
The AAA Mega Champion recently got candid while talking about the late Eddie Guerrero, stating that his gimmick is deep-rooted in Guerrero’s legacy.
WWE shared a YouTube video around Dominik Mysterio explaining how the former World Champion’s legacy helped shape his character and the attitude that he brings to the squared circle.
The 28-year-old star recalled Eddie’s 2008 custody battle storyline with Rey Mysterio when Dominik was just 8 years old, where the former claimed Dominik to be his son.
He did so much for our family because it was his idea to do the whole custody battle.
While Guerrero portrayed the antagonist in the storyline, he always protected and cared for Dominik backstage.
He was just always making sure that I was okay, getting taken care of. Always very kind, helpful, just a bright light.
Dominik Mysterio also likened his storyline with Rhea Ripley to Eddie’s love story angle with Chyna.
This is all Eddie. I watched him just so much that it organically became a thing. Even with the Rhea stuff—Eddie and Chyna. Now, the lie, cheat, and steal stuff that we’re currently doing.
Without Eddie even knowing, he planted that seed. He’s just always been there. The whole time.
Dominik Mysterio Faces A Tall Order At Survivor Series
Dominik Mysterio’s big mouth again cost him dearly, as he was forced to defend his Intercontinental Championship against John Cena on November 10, which he lost.
The following week, it was finalized that he would get his rematch at Survivor Series: WarGames.
John Cena is a 17-time World Champion and is competing in his penultimate match before retiring in December.
It is safe to assume that the 48-year-old will not drop the title easily, and Mysterio will need to pull out every trick in his book to deceive the wily veteran.
