Why Dominik Mysterio Would Be Happy With Short WWE Title Reign
Dominik Mysterio has set his sights on the Undisputed WWE Title held by Cody Rhodes as he wants to beat one infamous record.
Dominik Mysterio might have his hands full following Rhea Ripley’s shock return to WWE just as it looked like Dirty Dom was about to give into temptation with Women’s World Champion on Raw.
But looking to the future, Dominik Mysterio wants to win a world title and would be happy to hold it for just an hour for one very good reason.
Dominik Mysterio Wants To Beat Dad’s Infamous WWE Title Reign
Speaking to ESPN Daytona, Dominik Mysterio discussed one day holding a world title in WWE and couldn’t help but put the boot into his father Rey Mysterio’s infamously short WWE Title reign that lasted less than an episode of Raw:
With the legacy that Cody’s building on on SmackDown for for the Undisputed Title and the legacy that’s being built currently for the World Heavyweight Championship which Seth started and now Damian is carrying it.
So I don’t know, man. I think it’s pretty special because my deadbeat ended up holding the World Title two times. Then, he ended up winning the WWE title just once for, I believe, it was maybe 30 minutes, and then Cena came back and took it from him. So, I think right now, I would love to beat his 30-minute record of WWE Champion. So I think the WWE Undisputed Title that Cody currently has; it has Mysterio history written all over it.
After CM Punk famously walked out of WWE as WWE Champion in July 2011, a tournament was held to crown a new champion. Rey Mysterio won that tournament but waiting for him was the man Punk defeated for the title John Cena who won it back from Mysterio straight away.
CM Punk then returned to WWE with his title and a unification match was held at SummerSlam with Punk defeating Cena and then instantly having Alberto Del Rio cash in Money In The Bank on him after Kevin Nash attacked Punk.
