Fans Divided As The Young Bucks Return, Jon Moxley Wins Again

The Young Bucks escape through the crowd at AEW Dynasty

A big return for The Young Bucks has created more questions than answers.

In March it was reported that plans for The Young Bucks were being “worked on,” but no one could have predicted that this would be the result.

The Bucks had remained out of the AEW spotlight for several months, but instead, they won championship gold in NJPW after a short hiatus. But with their Japanese excursion done and dusted, fans were kept guessing about their All Elite return.

However, as Dynasty went off the air, the question of when had been replaced by thousands asking why.

The Young Bucks Are Back

Heading into Dynasty, fans were fully behind Swerve Strickland, hoping and praying he’d be able to topple Jon Moxley to win the World Championship for a second time. However, one 30-minute main event later, Strickland was left seething as Moxley walked out with the gold yet again.

What started out as a wrestling match quickly became a straight-up fight with interference at every turn. Marina Shafir was the first person added to the chaos, but she ended up accidentally eating a Cutter from Moxley.

As the action spilled outside, Strickland hit a Swerve Stomp from a ladder through the Spanish announce table, but he hurt his leg in the process. Moxley immediately went after the injured limb and threw a chair at Strickland who ducked, leaving the furniture to smash into referee Paul Turner.

This brought out “Hangman” Adam Page, but he couldn’t decide who to attack before being jumped by the Death Riders. But somehow he managed to avoid disaster and flattened Moxley with a Deadeye. Next up was an appearance from The Opps who brawled to the back with the Death Riders.

Back in the ring, Strickland hit another stomp, but with the referee down and his leg nigh-on destroyed he was unable to secure victory.

At this, the lights went out and when they came back on The Young Bucks were in the ring and quickly delivered a BTE Trigger to Strickland. As they left through the crowd, Moxley pinned the challenger to retain the World Championship.

Matt and Nick Jackson hadn’t appeared in AEW since losing the World Tag Team Titles to Private Party on October 30. Following the defeat, the pair left the arena, claiming the company had become too chaotic with the Death Riders destroying everyone in their path.

As the show went off the air social media was flooded with fans questioning why the company was continuing with Moxley as champion. Although some remained content to watch the story unfold, others believe it’s time to move on and a huge opportunity has been missed.
