Did CM Punk Refuse To Lose In AEW?

CM Punk

After one AEW star opened up about stars refusing to lose, the truth about CM Punk’s view on losing has come to light.

CM Punk returned to pro wrestling in a major way in 2021 when he joined AEW. His first match since walking out of WWE in 2014 took place at All Out when he picked up a win over his handpicked opponent, Darby Allin.

By the following year’s All Out, however, Punk’s time in the company was coming to a shuddering halt. CM Punk was involved in a backstage fight with The Young Bucks and also suffered a serious injury that kept him out of action as well, despite him winning the AEW World Championship on that show.

Punk returned to action in the summer of 2023 to launch the Collision show, but at All In London, another backstage altercation with Jack Perry proved to much and Punk was fired by Tony Khan.

But amid suggestions that some in AEW have refused to lose, was the same true of CM Punk?

CM Punk Had No Issue Losing In AEW

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Darby Allin hit out at “egotistical” stars who refused to lose and are no longer part of the company. When asked if CM Punk comes under that banner, Allin noted:

No, Punk’s, the whole Punk thing was just his own thing, it wasn’t about wanting to win or lose. That’s the thing. And honestly, I feel like at the end of day, some people work better in WWE, some people work better in [All Elite Wrestling], some people work better in TNA, some people work better in MLW, New Japan, that’s the beauty of it.
