Details Revealed Regarding WWE-TNA Working Relationship

WWE Jordynne Grace TNA NXT

More cross-promotional matches between WWE and TNA could be on the way.

On the May 28th episode of NXT, Jordynne Grace stunned the wrestling world when she was unveiled as the next challenger for Roxanne Perez’s Women’s Title. To add to the intrigue, Grace is currently the TNA Knockouts Champion.

The surprise came just months after Grace had appeared in the Royal Rumble, following in the footsteps of Mickie James from two years earlier. Although Grace remains under contract with TNA for the foreseeable future, speculation is running wild about more cross-promotional matches, especially after it was announced Grace will face an unnamed challenger at TNA Against All Odds.

According to a new report from Fightful, WWE was impressed with Grace at the Royal Rumble and this opened the way for more collaborations between the company and TNA. When WWE reached out to TNA it was reportedly unaware that President Scott D’Amore would be removed from his position. In fact, D’Amore accepted the inquiry and tried to purchase TNA that same week.

The departure of D’Amore is said to have not impacted any agreements between the two sides.

Several female WWE talents have indicated they’d love to appear on TNA programming, with one performer believing the cross-promotion would be a great opportunity. Meanwhile, Natalya said in an interview with Fightful that she’d like to wrestle Grace.

One NXT higher-up mentioned Steve Maclin as a “natural crossover fit,” commenting there’s no one more familiar with NXT and the Performance Center process than the star. “Well over a dozen” WWE talents were open to appearing in TNA, and many expect something of that nature very soon.

Among talent in NXT, there’s said to be great excitement about potential opponents from TNA, with Leon Slater and Josh Alexander particularly highly thought of.

The star explained that during previous talks it was never the right time to leave TNA, before describing her current situation as the “best of both worlds.”
