Backstage Details On Ex-WWE Champion’s Return After 5 Years Revealed
An ex-champion recently made their first appearance in WWE after 5 years.
Matt Cardona returned as one of the participants in the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament as LA Knight’s mystery opponent.
Despite wrestling under his real name for five years in the indies, he was reintroduced as Zack Ryder on the November 14 episode of SmackDown.
While Cardona put on an impressive show, he went down to the Megastar.
Chelsea Green had previously spoken about seeing her husband join WWE again. While that did not happen immediately, the door is not closed on the 40-year-old star’s full-time return.
How Did Chelsea Green Prepare For Her Husband’s WWE Return?
Chelsea Green recently appeared for an interview on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight, where she spoke about preparing for Matt Cardona’s return.
She explained that despite being informed about a certain plan for his introduction, things could change at the last minute.
So the crazy thing is that with WWE, they can say something’s gonna happen, and until you are, I want to say at the show, but even at the show, things can change, because it’s live TV.
So until I knew that LA Knight was walking to gorilla, I couldn’t get excited, because I have been on the receiving end of many of, ‘Oh, you’re gonna get this.’ ‘No, maybe next week.’ ‘Oh, you are gonna go out there and win.’ Oh, no, you broke your arm. You know what I mean? All those little moments.
So it’s crazy how you just [can’t control it]. So no, I could not get excited. But I was a little excited when he was flying with me to New York. And the morning of the show, I had Good Day New York, and he came, and then as I’m walking out, TMZ was outside, and he panicked, because it’s like, oh my god, everything’s gonna be blown, and then he’ll never get the moment if TMZ sees him.
The host then stated that it was not uncommon to see the couple together often.
Chelsea Green replied that it felt different on that particular day, considering LA Knight was facing an unnamed opponent, and the media seeing Cardona traveling with her could lift the lid off WWE’s plans.
But on the day when there’s a surprise opponent, do you know what I mean? So we didn’t get too excited, but we hoped. We really hoped this is gonna be the moment.
