Details On Becky Lynch Match Scrapped 10 Minutes Before WWE Raw
Becky Lynch’s NXT Championship match underwent a drastic change just minutes before doors opened for WWE Raw.
Ahead of the September 18th episode of WWE Raw, Fightful Select reported that Becky Lynch was set to defend her NXT Women’s Championship in an open challenge match to be answered by Tegan Nox, who has primarily been competing on Main Event since being drafted to the red brand during the 2023 Draft.
While Lynch did indeed issue an open challenge on the show, it was answered by Natalya instead of Tegan Nox. After calling Lynch a hypocrite for “jumping over the women in NXT,” Lynch accepted Natalya’s challenge and defeated the Queen of Harts with a rollup to retain her title.
Why Didn’t Becky Lynch Face Tegan Nox On Raw?
An update from Fightful Select reveals that Lynch had pushed to work with Nox on Raw, and that had indeed been the plan for most of the day. They had their entire match planned out, and it was to be produced by TJ Wilson. However, about ten minutes before doors opened for Raw, the match was changed as Nox and Natalya switched places on the show. Natalya answered Lynch’s challenge instead, while Nox faced Xia Li on Main Event.
Fightful Select was unable to get clarification on why the two women’s spots were swapped, but previous reports indicate that WWE has been very happy with Natalya as of late, particularly after she stepped up when Becky Lynch was unable to travel to India due to a tear in her passport.
According to the report, there are no major plans in place for Nox at this time. Sources told Fightful that they’re hopeful the open challenges will continue on Monday Night Raw, but there is no guarantee of that at this time.
