More Details Emerge On Potential In-Ring Return For Goldberg

Goldberg WWE

A new report has given an update on Goldberg.

At Bad Blood, Goldberg was sitting ringside, initially watching the action alongside his son, but he quickly became part of the story.

After Triple H announced the creation of the Crown Jewel Championship, Gunther came to the ring to address the news and take some potshots at Goldberg for good measure. Gunther called the Hall of Famer a “one trick pony” and said he hoped he was a better dad than he was a wrestler.

At this, Goldberg jumped the barrier and tried to get at Gunther only to be thwarted by security. Sensing an opportunity, Sami Zayn launched his own assault on the World Champion before the pair were pulled apart.

The action sparked speculation the former WCW star could return to the ring, and Triple H left the door wide open at the post-show press conference.

Path To Goldberg’s In-Ring Return Unclear

While it seemed a match between Goldberg and Gunther was being put into place, exactly when they might meet is less clear.

In the Wrestling Observer Daily Update, Dave Meltzer noted a match between the pair isn’t scheduled for WrestleMania, Survivor Series, or Crown Jewel, although plans for the latter could change.

It certainly appeared that Gunther vs. Bill Goldberg is coming soon based on the angle last night. I don’t know when other than we were told at this point it is not planned for either WrestleMania or Survivor Series. I presume it’s Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther at Crown Jewel but if Gunther was to lose to Sami Zayn tomorrow that would change.

Gunther will defend the World Heavyweight Title Sami Zayn on the October 7th edition of Raw. Whoever wins will go on to face Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel with the winner of that match being declared the Crown Jewel Champion.
