Report Denies Young Bucks Have Signed “Brock Lesnar Deal”

Young Bucks AEW Tag Team Champions

The Young Bucks will be on AEW television more than previously thought.

On the August 14th episode of Dynamite, the Young Bucks returned to the ring for the first time since Blood and Guts. In doing so they defended the AEW World Tag Team Titles for the first time since winning the gold back in April at Dynasty.

The Bucks’ relative inactivity led to several claims around their status and speculation over their current AEW contracts. One such report claimed the Young Bucks were now essentially part-time after signing a deal similar to that agreed between Brock Lesnar and WWE.

However, things aren’t quite that simple.

No “Brock Lesnar Deal” For The Young Bucks

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer suggested the Young Bucks’ recent time off was agreed upon well in advance so they could sell their injuries from Blood and Guts. Meltzer also denied the pair had signed a Lesnar-style deal, noting they’ll be on Dynamite “most weeks.”

Regarding the Young Bucks missing two weeks, that was a long planned thing.

What we were told is that The Young Bucks had long been scheduled to take time off to sell the Blood & Guts injuries, although if doing so, they should have played that up in storyline the past few weeks and maybe had a more violent end to that match as far as them suffering more of a beating…

The new contract they are on calls for fewer dates than the prior contract and that was part of it as well in the sense of making sure they aren’t on some shows as to eat up too many dates. It’s not like they ran through all of their dates or anything like that.

It was time off agreed to months ago. Given the number of dates left, they won’t be on every Wednesday show between now and the end of December, but will be there most weeks. They had worked most Wednesdays so far this year, so it’s not like they signed a part-time deal or got a Brock Lesnar deal.

At All In, the Young Bucks will defend their tag team titles against either FTR or The Acclaimed.
