DDP On Not Getting Chance To Main Event WrestleMania

DDP speaking at his WWE Hall Of Fame induction in 2017

DDP has discussed the fact that he should have been focusing on main eventing a WrestleMania during his career, rather than just being a part of ‘The Showcase Of The Immortals’.

Despite only starting his career as a professional wrestler at the age of 35, Diamond Dallas Page became instrumental in the Monday Night Wars, playing a key role for WCW where he went on to become a three-time World Champion.

When WCW was purchased by Vince McMahon, DDP was one of the first stars to make the move to WWE after having his contract with AOL Time Warner bought out.

In a discussion on the latest episode of DDP’s Snake Pit, the master of the Diamond Cutter opened up on one of the regrets he has from his career, where he should have been looking to main event a WrestleMania instead of being happy to just be on the card.

For my last match to be able to do it at AEW, you know, with Cody laying out that finish, I’m happy with that. You know, it wasn’t, you know, wasn’t what I would like to, love to.

You know, I always thought I got to work at WrestleMania. And pretty much everything I set the goal for I did, but you got to be specific sometimes. I mean, I should have been saying to myself, I got to work the main event at WrestleMania. You know, that should have been my goal.

You know, and looking back, I forget what I was trying to do, you know, work WrestleMania and I had a great match with Christian, it was midcard and it shouldn’t ever been that like that, you know, but it was what it was.

Super grateful for, for the career that I was lucky enough to have that never should have. But would I have liked it to have been different? Yeah, sure. But try not to even think about it.

DDP also recently discussed how he was amazed AEW didn’t sign a now-returned WWE star.
