Date For AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2 Revealed
Tony Khan promised a big announcement on Dynamite and many wondered if it would be details on a second Forbidden Door show with New Japan Pro Wrestling but that didn’t prove to be the case.
Instead, Tony Khan handed over to Adam Cole to make the announcement – just as he had done for the first Forbidden Door show in 2022 – but this time Cole announced the impending debut of a new docu-series entitled AEW: All Access that will follow the backstage machinations and personalities in the company.
Cole also revealed when he will be returning to the ring – his last match came at Forbidden Door in 2022 as he faced off with Kazuchika Okada, Jay White, and Adam Page for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, suffering a concussion in the process.
Now, however, US cable TV company Spectrum might have spoiled any surprise for Forbidden Door 2 as the event appears in listings for upcoming pay-per-view events alongside the likes of Revolution, Double Or Nothing, and WWE’s WrestleMania.
According to Sepctrum’s listings, Forbidden Door will take place on Saturday, June 24th and the event will cost $49.99 to order on pay-per-view but no other details are known about the event at this time. 2022’s event took place on the 26th of June and emanated from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Although nothing is official until AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling announce it, fans will surely be salivating at the prospect of IWGP Women’s World Champion Mercedes Mone taking on one of AEW’s best or AEW World Champion MJF stepping in the ring with an NJPW legend such as Kazuchika Okada or Hiroshi Tanahashi.
