Darby Allin’s Extreme Ideas Turned Down In AEW

Sometimes Darby Allin needs to be saved from himself.

After starring on the independent scene Darby Allin signed with AEW in early 2019. His all-action, high-risk in-ring style quickly won over fans and he’s gone on to become a two-time TNT Champion while his partnership with Sting saw his popularity soar.

During his AEW career to date, Allin has never met an object he didn’t want to jump off, and several of his matches have left fans watching through their fingers. From being launched onto an upturned set of steel steps to being thrown down a flight of stairs and jumping off a ladder through a pane of glass, there’s not a lot Allin won’t do to entertain.

And that’s without mentioning the small matter of setting Jack Perry on fire.

Darby Allin Admits Not Every Idea Makes It Onto Television

During an appearance on Levack and Goz, Allin was asked whether there were any ideas he’d turned down. He said there hadn’t, but his opponents have been quick to shut down some of his wilder moments.

“Not really. I’ve had ideas that people have turned away. There are a few things I’ve wanted to do in matches where people are like, ‘Absolutely not. We’re not doing that.’ I’m always down to push the limits and see how far I can take things,”

With Bryan Danielson now out of the picture, Allin has looked to help protect AEW from the hostile takeover led by Jon Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club. On the October 30th edition of Dynamite, this defiance saw Allin descend from the rafters like his mentor Sting to help Orange Cassidy and others fight off the group.

Allin will be back in action on November 8th when he teams with Cassidy to face PAC and Claudio Castagnoli. The bout will serve as his first in-ring outing since WrestleDream.

Meanwhile, Orange Cassidy is set to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title at Full Gear.
