Darby Allin Calls “Egotistical” Ex-AEW Stars A Cancer
Darby Allin has not held back on his thoughts of some former AEW stars, as he claims the cancer has been cut out of the company.
Perhaps no other wrestling star has given more of their body to AEW than Darby Allin. Allin’s death-defying leaps, stunts, and use of gruesome weapons have endeared him to fans while also making them hugely concerned for his long-term health.
Allin will battle Jon Moxley in an I Quit match at WrestleDream, and there is already a great deal of concern regarding what that match will entail following their brutal coffin match at All Out. Since then, Allin has set Moxley alight and, most recently, tried to bring an end to the Death Riders with a Molotov cocktail.
While Allin is seemingly prepared to do anything for AEW, there have been some in the company for whom that hasn’t been the case. And the former TNT Champion is glad they’re gone.
Darby Allin Glad AEW Cancer Is Gone
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Darby Allin explained why AEW is now a better company than it was a few years ago, as he claimed that egotistical wrestlers who refuse to lose were a big problem:
The cancer got cut out. Just egotistical wrestlers that don’t want to lose… That’s the thing I was saying earlier—with wrestling, with climbing Mount Everest—it kept me so grounded and level-headed. And at the end of the day, this is all staged. It’s the greatest thing in the world, but it’s staged. So if you’re going to have an ego about that, get out of the f*cking sport.
Nothing has ever been confirmed, but reports long suggested that current WWE star Aleister Black refused to lose matches in AEW, with similar accusations laid at the door of Rusev as well.
