Daniel Bryan Talks In-Ring Return And Wanting To Face Brock Lesnar
On a media tour in Abu Dhabi, Daniel Bryan spoke to The National about a number of topics, with the most tantalizing being the current state of his recovery and opponents he would like to face off against in important PPV matches.
Daniel Bryan on when he’ll return:
“I have no idea. I wish I could give you a solid answer. I feel great. I have been cleared by doctors. But getting the WWE to clear me has been a little bit sticky, given my concussion history. They are just looking out for my best interests. We are trying to get with more doctors to get me more support to get me back in the ring as soon as possible.”
Daniel Bryan on potential future opponents:
“My number one dream match is Brock Lesnar. And I want that to be a WrestleMania match. I don’t know if the WWE will ever let that happen, because they might be afraid he might legitimately hurt me pretty bad. But I would like to do a major pay-per-view match with Cesaro. I’d like to to do a major pay-per-view match with Seth Rollins. I’d love do a major pay-per-view match with Stardust. We have so many talented people on the roster that I’d love to have a match on pay per view or we have a story to work through together.”
First of all, it’s probably a good thing that WWE is taking the stingy approach with allowing Bryan to return. It is best to make sure he has fully recovered and can perform for an extended period of time, rather than starting and stopping storylines again because of his issues persisting.
As for the match against Brock Lesnar, I’d love to see it so long as all parties involved are comfortable going ahead with the match. Bryan is right in assuming that Brock Lesnar will most likely legitimately bang him up bad, but come on, there is no more appropriate parallel to David versus Goliath than Daniel Bryan versus Brock Lesnar. Setting the epic confrontation at WrestleMania would just be icing on the cake.
