Dana White Ignored UFC Pitch From WWE Star
Dana White apparently had no interest in working with a WWE star.
Back in December, controversial UFC star Conor McGregor claimed he’d agreed to a boxing exhibition with Logan Paul.
Paul has been open about his desire to try his hand at MMA after finding a level of success in boxing and WWE, and this was seen as the next best thing. However, according to McGregor, the deal for the fight fell through due to a lack of interest from UFC, although he admitted he was unsure of WWE’s stance.
Since then, talk of Paul competing in MMA has gone quiet, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t open to the possibility.
UFC star Tom Aspinall was the most recent guest on Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, and the conversation touched on the YouTube star’s chances of making his MMA debut. Paul reiterated that he’d love to take a fight, but only against the right opponent.
“I could get one for the right opponent. But it wouldn’t be a DDP, dude. I’m not fighting for a world title. Or f*ck it, let’s get it [laughs],”
Paul was then asked whether he’d spoken to UFC management about stepping into the cage. He revealed that he had, or at least he’d tried, because Dana White ignored his message.
“I did. I told Dana [White] for UFC 300. I texted him, I said, ‘Hey man, consider me available to fight on the undercard in The Sphere.’ Yeah, they basically completely ignored me [laughs], which I think spoke volumes. Haven’t bothered him about it since. But I think for the right fight, the amount of money, man, I’m an entertainer at the end of the day,”
UFC Champion Wants To Team With WWE’s Cody Rhodes
During a different interview, Tom Aspinall said he wants to team with Cody Rhodes when he retires from UFC. The UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion described a spot in WWE as his “retirement plan,” suggesting he could join up with Cena to face Jon Jones and John Cena.
Aspinall hasn’t fought since beating Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 in Manchester, England on July 27, 2024. The British star made quick work of Blaydes, knocking his rival out in the first round to improve his record to 15-3.
