Damian Priest Knows He’s One Of The Fortunate Ones
Damian Priest talks about his journey into pro wrestling.
Damian Priest has been a part of the WWE roster since 2018. From his initial days in NXT to becoming a top champion on the main roster, the former Judgment Day member has come a long way in his career. In a short conversation recently, he shared his outlook on wrestling and how one becomes successful at it.
Damian Priest has been a champion ever since his time in NXT. Starting as the North American Champion, Priest found his footing on the main roster by winning tag team gold, the United States Title and more recently the World Heavyweight Championship. While he doesn’t hold a title currently, he is in one of the most talked-about feuds with Drew McIntyre.
While in conversation with Las 5 Equinas De NY at his Bronx Hall Of Fame induction event, the former Money In The Bank winner spoke about his drive for wrestling and was grateful for where he has reached in his career.
“Since I was a kid, a young teen, I felt like this is what I was born to do. But you never know. I mean, there’s tons of dreamers. Everybody wants to accomplish something, but it doesn’t- in real life, it doesn’t always work out that way. So for me, I’m one of the fortunate ones that got to live out his childhood dream.” [H/T: Fightful]
Damian Priest & Drew McIntyre Share Colourful Past
At WrestleMania 40, Drew McIntyre won his first World Title in front of a live crowd. However, his title reign was short-lived when Damian Priest came out to cash in his Money In The Bank contract and capitalize on the beating McIntyre took at the hands of CM Punk.
Since then, the Scottish Warrior has always had an eye on Priest and was waiting for his moment to exact revenge on the Superstar who stole his moment. At the Royal Rumble earlier this year, Priest further enraged McIntyre by eliminating him from the 30-man match, costing him the chance to possibly win the title at WrestleMania.
The two WWE Superstars have met on a number of occasions since then, with one getting the better of the other at different times. Most recently, the two were part of the Fatal Four-Way Match for the United States Championship at WWE Backlash. The match saw both Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest suffer injuries, but thankfully, neither of them were sidelined.
