Dakota Kai Provides Injury Update, Return Timeline

Dakota Kai

Don’t expect to see Dakota Kai in a WWE ring anytime soon.

Kai is a 15-year wrestling veteran who has been in the industry since late 2007. Wrestling for so long, whether on the independent scene or in WWE, leads to serious wear-and-tear on one’s body.

Dakota Kai knows this feeling firsthand as she is currently sidelined with an injury she suffered back in May.

The injury took place on May 12th when Kai and her Damage CTRL stablemate IYO SKY challenged Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Not only did Kai & SKY fail to win the titles, but both Kai and Morgan suffered sidelining injuries in the same match. and unfortunately for those that want to see her return, Kai noted that she won’t make it back into the ring anytime soon.

Dakota Kai expected to be sidelined for the remainder of this year

During a live Twitch stream, Kai noted that while she has made some progress with her mobility, she still doesn’t expect to be cleared before the end of 2023.

“I do think its funny that a lot of people like, ’She’s not injured at all! Look at her walking around.’ [An] ACL injury I haven’t even learned how to jump and run again yet. I think I’m going to learn how to run again this week,

“If I was a desk worker or something like that, I’d be back at work properly, like fully now, but because it’s wrestling I won’t be cleared until January.”

Kai isn’t expected to wrestle anytime soon, but she has tried to make the odd appearance for WWE in a non-competing capacity, such as when she celebrated with IYO SKY when SKY won the WWE Women’s Championship.
