Current WWE Star Says “No Way” He’ll Wrestle Again After December
A current WWE Star is set to end his wrestling career in December.
John Cena kicked off his WWE journey in 2000, joining OVW. After making his main roster debut two years later, The Franchise Player eventually became the top guy and the face of the Stamford-based company for almost two decades.
However, the 48-year-old has decided to end his in-ring career by December of this year, embarking on an exciting farewell tour. He is currently the Undisputed WWE Champion.
Although many wrestlers have come out of retirement over the years, Cena completely closed the door on the same during a recent interview with Good Morning America.
When asked whether he would ever wrestle again after his farewell tour, The Franchise Player stated that there is “no way” that would happen, claiming it would be disrespectful to fans.
[Is there a slight chance you might come back?] There is no way. I don’t want to speak in absolutes because I don’t want to close any opportunity, but I made a promise to the fans who have allowed me to be here for a quarter of a century. They allow me to sit with you today.
I wouldn’t want to disrespect them like that. This is an event that I want when people attend, it’s very exclusive. We do geosight merch, the I was there stuff is really select and limited. And the moments I share with people, I wouldn’t want to ruin that just for selfish gain. [3:20 onwards]
John Cena Will Work As WWE Ambassador After Retirement
While John Cena has no plans to return to in-ring competition following his retirement by the end of 2025, he would remain tied to the Stamford-based company.
In his appearance on Good Morning America, the 48-year-old legend revealed that he would serve as an ambassador for WWE after retirement.
I’ll be an ambassador for the WWE as long as they’ll have me.
Cena also recently provided an update on the plans for his final WWE match. Check his comments here.
