Current Champion Allies With Mercedes Mone On AEW Dynamite Return
A current champion is taking a big chance as they formed an alliance with the belt collector Mercedes Mone on AEW Dynamite.
Mercedes Mone is on the run of a lifetime as the longest-reigning TBS Champion of all time, and currently holds eleven other titles as well. Mone issued an open challenge to any champion at WrestleDream, and that challenge was answered by Interim ROH Women’s Television Champion Mina Shirakawa.
Mone picked up the victory over Shirakawa, making that eleven belts in her collection, but The CEO wasn’t done there. One night later, Mone captured another independent title, taking her haul up to twelve.
Despite that success, Mone might have made a tactical error at WrestleDream when she drew the ire of AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander. Those two are on a collision course for Full Gear, but came together once again on the October 22nd edition of Dynamite.
Mercedes Mone Finds A Friend
Mone wanted to throw herself a celebration for her recent success, but that was interrupted by Harley Cameron and the puppet version of the TBS Champion. Mone thought she had the last laugh when she pushed the puppet into a cake, but Kris Statlander then appeared, hoisting Mone on her shoulders and launching her face-first into the cake.
As Mone consoled herself backstage, she was approached by Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Athena, who offered to partner up with Mone and go after the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship.
