The Critical Change Jim Ross Sees In AEW Between Weekly TV & PPVs

Jim Ross in AEW

Following a huge night for AEW at All In, Jim Ross has claimed the stars of the company show a lot more intensity on PPV than they do each week on TV.

All In was headlined by Bryan Danielson winning the AEW World Championship from Swerve Strickland as the American Dragon prolonged his career. Mariah May broke hearts as she dethroned Toni Storm as AEW Women’s Champion while Will Ospreay brought back the AEW International Championship after defeating MJF in his home country of England.

While All In saw over 50,000 fans pour into Wembley Stadium and while AEW pay-per-views continue to impress with the matches and talent on show, the company has seen its weekly TV ratings decline as weekly attendances also drop.

Jim Ross Sees Huge Difference In AEW TV Shows & PPVs

Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, AEW announcer Jim Ross looked ahead to the next pay-per-view on the company’s calendar with All Out taking place on September 7th. Ross also shared his thoughts on the different levels he believes the AEW talent brings to different shows:

It’s amazing to me, I’ve never been around a group of talents that change their levels more significantly on pay-per-views than they do on their go home shows for example, things of that nature. This is a hell of a crew, they’re young enough, they wanna awe their peers, they wanna awe the fans.

The difference in what we see on Dynamite or Collision as far as intensity – that’s just me now, I may be wrong – but I think the difference in the talent level from a weekly show to a pay-per-view with AEW is more than any company I’ve been around, maybe in forever.

It seems like it’s consistent, every show, every pay-per-view they seem to raise the bar, guys have some of their best matches on pay-per-view. So I expect that to continue at Chicago [at All Out].

Swerve Strickland will reignite his feud in a huge match with Adam Page at All Out while Will Ospreay will put his AEW International Championship on the line against PAC.
