The latest feeling within WWE is that “the countdown is on” for Vince McMahon to regain full control of the company according to a new report.
Vince McMahon stunned the wrestling world at the beginning of 2023 when he strong-armed his way back onto WWE’s Board of Directors through his role as majority shareholder of the company. The boardroom shake-up saw McMahon installed as Executive Chairman of WWE while his daughter Stephanie McMahon resigned from her roles as Chairwoman and co-CEO of the company.
While the suggestion from within WWE management publicly and to employees is that Vince McMahon is back purely to investigate and potentially oversee a sale of the company, the reality could be quite different.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted that there are those within WWE that feel the clock is already ticking on a return to full control for Vince McMahon:
“He’s still not in charge at this moment, that is the news. But he’s bringing his team back, that’s an odd thing to do for a guy that’s just shown up to sell this place.”
“The countdown’s on everybody. I mean, I talked to people today and that was the feeling, the countdown is on. When, where, what, I mean we’ve got a Raw 30th anniversary and there’s gonna be a lot of people showing up there so I do not rule that out.”
