Corey Graves WWE Contract Details Revealed

There are more details revealed about the future of WWE’s Corey Graves and how many more years he has left on his contract.

Corey Graves has a long history in WWE that started when he signed as a wrestler in 2011. After suffering multiple concussions, his in-ring career ended and by 2014, he became an announcer.

Over the last decade, Graves moved his way up by going from NXT and then being on the main roster with stints on Raw and SmackDown. Graves has also been ringside for many PLE shows as the main analyst beside Michael Cole. For several months in 2024, Graves showed his versatility by being the play-by-play announcer on SmackDown with Wade Barrett as well.

It was on January 13th when Corey Graves publicly called out WWE for dropping him from SmackDown and assigning him to NXT. Some people thought it was all part of an angle, but that isn’t the case.

The new SmackDown commentary team is Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett although WWE is known for tinkering with their commentary teams a lot. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on the situation.

I’m gonna say this is September-ish, maybe October when they made the announcement of the announcer changes and Pat McAfee coming back and everything. So basically, Michael Cole was moved to SmackDown but it was only gonna be temporary and Joe Tessitore was starting with Raw and we were told it was only temporary and he’d move to SmackDown. At the time I was told that the Raw announce team in January would be Michael Cole and Pat McAfee and the SmackDown team would be Corey Graves and Joe Tessitore.

Then I’m gonna say, maybe a couple of weeks ago, I asked ‘Is it Joe Tessitore and Corey Graves that are going to be the hosts of SmackDown’ since that’s what I’d been told. The answer was to be determined, it’s not determined. I guess it was a couple of weeks ago that Wade Barrett was going to replace him on that show and [Graves] wasn’t happy.

I don’t know if he got the word that in January he was gonna start in NXT, I don’t know the situation. I just know that’s when he found out he wasn’t going to be on SmackDown as he presumed he would be and he was genuinely unhappy. Now why you would go on Twitter and do all this, I can’t answer that question. There are people there who think he was trying to get fired and that’s why he did it.

If he was trying to get fired they probably aren’t gonna fire him. I don’t think they want him going to AEW if they give him a release.

Corey Graves Has A Lot Of Time Left On WWE Contract

While speculation will likely continue about whether WWE will fire Corey Graves for his public outburst, Fightful Select reports that the situation with Graves is very real.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful added that Graves was frustrated when he was moved to NXT for one episode, but people that Fightful spoke to were hoping that Graves would stay in WWE. It was also reported that Graves has about two years left on his WWE deal.

Graves is also married to WWE superstar Carmella, who gave birth to the couple’s first child – a son – in November 2023. She has yet to return to the ring due to a foot issue.
