Does Cope Want Tag Team Reunion With Christian Cage In AEW?
Adam Copeland aka Cope has revealed if he intends to be a tag team with Christian Cage in AEW.
When WWE Hall of Famer Adam Copeland made his entrance in the main event of Dynamite on New Year’s Day, he was officially announced as Cope after previously using his full name Adam Copeland in AEW. Cope is a short form for his Copeland last name and likely a nickname that friends/family have used all of his life.
The use of Cope might surprise some wrestling fans, but perhaps the man who was known as WWE’s Edge for over 25 years prefers having a four-letter name again.
During his WWE run as Edge, Copeland became a household name with his lifelong best friend Christian Cage. The duo were known as Edge & Christian (or E&C) and they had some legendary funny moments as well.
Since joining TNA in October 2023, Cope has been a rival of Christian with the two men having multiple matches with the TNT Title on the line.
Cope is a popular veteran in AEW while Cage is a despicable heel with the Patriarchy group, so it seems like a reunion with Christian may be difficult. However, Cope told Mojo Muhtadi of TMZ Sports that part of the reason he’s working there is because of the people that are there and that includes Cage.
“One of the reasons I came to AEW. I looked at it, and I have a few close friends in this industry. The close ones. Those are three of them [Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler, & Christian Cage]. They’re all in one place. That seems very intriguing to me. Then you look at the roster, and it’s a murderers’ row of guys I haven’t been in there with. That was so enticing and exciting.
If you’re in one place for a long time, chances are you’ve kind of run through what you can run through. ‘Now what is it? Now what is it?’ Well, now it’s time off. I’m at a point where, time off, I have to go. With this injury, I have to get back and go. Time is of the essence.
To be able to come back and run with Christian and do what we did. Who knows where it goes from there? I feel like, at some point, a C&C tag team run should be in the cards, but you never know. Getting to do Rated FTR, it’s all bucket list things that are happening now that I cooked up while I was retired. ‘If I was able to get back, this would be cool.’ Now, I’m getting to do it.”
There is no doubt that a reunion of Cope and Christian as a team would excite fans of the two wrestling legends, but there would need to be a change in characters for that to happen.
Cope And FTR Looking To Continue Positive Momentum On AEW Collision
In their first match as a trio, Rated FTR’s Cope, Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler picked up a big win in the main event of New Year’s Dynamite when they beat Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta.
The Rated FTR trio will be back together on Collision in Charlotte when they team up against Chris Jericho’s Learning Tree group with Big Bill and Bryan Keith.
