Cope Leaves AEW Dynasty On Stretcher Following Shock Heel Turn

Adam Copeland AEW

After a stunning betrayal, Cope is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Cope walked into AEW Dynasty looking to win the World Trios Titles alongside Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, but he left the event on a stretcher.

There appeared to be tension between FTR heading into the match with the Death Riders, but once the bell rang they presented a united front. However, there appeared to be cracks in the relationship between the pair and Cope, with Harwood stealing in to take a tag from Wheeler mid-match.

In the closing stages, the Rated R Superstar narrowly avoided hitting Harwood with a Spear, but Wheeler Yuta sent the pair colliding into each other and followed up with a Busaiku Knee on Harwood to earn the win.

Cope Betrayed In Stunning Style

When the match was over, Cope helped Harwood to his feet as the Death Riders made their way out of the arena through the crowd. However, after an embrace between Rated FTR, Harwood delivered a sickening Piledriver to the WWE Hall of Famer.

He quickly grabbed two chairs and looked set to deliver a Con-Chair-To, but Wheeler shoved him out of the way. At first, he helped Cope to his feet, but then pulled him into a Shatter Machine, before he and Harwood, delivered a Mindbreaker Piledriver onto a chair.

Wheeler then hit the Con-Chair-To as doctors ran to the ring, but he simply hit his one-time friend yet again.

With medics tending to the stricken legend, Wheeler mockingly put on a neck brace and lay on a stretcher as Harwood did chest compressions.

In the words of Nigel McGuinness, FTR stands for “F the rest.”

In the main event, the Young Bucks returned to help Jon Moxley retain the World Championship. Swerve Strickland had looked set to win the gold until the Jackson Brothers felled him with a BTE Trigger.
